Government Affairs - Legislative/Advocacy

We recently attended the Energy Forum and the New Member Orientation session on the 22nd. Both events led to new business opportunities. Being involved with the Chamber certainly works!

Leading Voice

The Chamber is the business voice of Greater Reading advocating on behalf of member businesses regarding issues impacting their ability to do business.

Issues advocacy is a core component of this effort. Our proactive agenda includes the following priorities:
  • Reduce the cost of business,
  • Stimulate small/entrepreneurial business,
  • Level the international playing field,
  • Stimulate innovation and investment, and
  • Develop a pool of skilled workers.

The Government Issues Committee advocates on behalf of the Greater Reading business community to support legislation and public policy that will further the economic and business climate of the region.

We provide closed door, face-to-face exchanges between Chamber members and elected officials from the local, state, and national levels to support legislation and policies that are pro-business and pro-Greater Reading.

Setting the Agenda-Shaping Public Policy engages our members in the process of developing Chamber agenda in three top priority areas:
  • Workforce Development
  • Healthcare
  • Energy
  • This agenda series is sponsored by M&T Bank.

Another important component in our Government affairs efforts is public education relative to elections. We provide information on important issues that come before the various legislative bodies and how elected officials voted on those issues.

If you would like more information about our Government Affairs efforts, please contact the Chamber.
